Sermon notes

How to please God

1.) haf faith in Jesus Christ
2.) please God wif all our heart

-1.) haf faith in Jesus Christ
-explosive faith
2 Cor 5:21
Faith to be grown to an nuclear explosion
GROWN.. noticed it.. is ur faith growing?
Know Him.. not juz knowing abt Him..
-** you nid to spend time wif Him to noe Him **-
so no more saying.. i dunno Jesus.. how i noe He exist?
first ask urself.. are u spending time wif God?
Romans 5:17
-live in triumph over sin and death.

If u love God, u would want to please Him..
your faith should not be the same as yesterday.. it should have grown.
2Chronicles 16:9
-God will search everyone to find those that are fully committed to Him.. so He can strengthen you! =]]

2 things that stop us from pleasing God..
1.) fear
2.) when we choose to please ppl instead of God..

Fear comes from believing a lie..
John 8:44
-Satan put thoughts into us.. dun believe the devil.. haha..
from a previous sermon, i learn this.. share wif u all..
FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real

1 Cor1:27-28
-fear makes us want to compete.. either insecurities or pride comes..
leading u to wan the approval from man..
approval from man =/= approval from God..
which links us to our second point.
the heart to want to please God is wat God wants!
even if u r a faithful toilet cleaner for God, u r better den a leader who dun wan to serve God! =]]
Philippians 2:7
-Jesus was humbled.. it shows tat our position do not please God..
Galatians 1:10
-seek to always please God.
dun blame others for ur own mistakes..
when we want to please others, we are insecure!
dun let anyone teach u how to life ur life except God.
insecurities comes from looking too much at ur weakness..
Ephesians 2:10
-we are new in Christ Jesus.. God's masterpiece..
Hebrews 4:15
-you may haf weakness, but u can make weakness weak! =]]

More details on the day, 28th october 2006. WALKATHON!!

Time: To be in church by 6.30am
Attire: Black Shirt

Please be reminded to have your breakfast first before going to church. You all are advised not to buy anything from there. As there will only be one stall over there. Moreover, there are thousands of people attending this walkathon. So...ya..!

Attitude wise. On the day itself, please behave yourself and be more christ-like. As there will be thousands of people attending. Only 1/3 of them are christians and the rest of them are non-believers. As you know, we are there for voluntary works. We are there to impact the people over there, to show our love for them. ya, so behave urself. You can bring along your new life chapter 1 along wif u.. u should noe why..=D needless to say..

By the way, those who are going for the walkathon. Please bring extra clothings because after the walkathon, it will be core outing and service. So if u want..can change when u going for service.

Anyway, those who are going.. you guys are not required to walk with the elderly there. maybe will be doing ushering works or other stuffs. im not quite sure in this.

PRAYERS
Christianity is a relationship wif God! its not a religion as opposed to popular belief.. =]]
Ephesians 6:10-18
-words of resistance
James 4:7
1Peter 5:8-9
-be always alert to the devil..
resist his HARMLESS roar and u will be fine =]]
the bible did not tell us to attack satan or harm him..
defeating the devil is Jesus's part.
standing firm is our part.
Jesus has done His, haf u done urs? =]]
standing firm means refusing to give in to the devil's temptations and refusing to give up on wat God wantsw to do in and thru u.

r/s wif God muz be rooted in prayers.
one of the reason why christians are weak is because they do not pray when the devil attacks.
it is like the battle in pearl harbour.. they were unprepared.. so kena.... BOMBBBBB

God's goal is to establish an ever deepening r/s wif us. He will reveal to us more and more.. thru prayers.
Satan wants to prevent this though..
The devil does not mind us going to church but he do not like us to experience / know God.
the devil will disturb u when u r praying and watever u gonna do.. pray b4 it.
the devil is a liar about prayer, dun fall into his traps.
alot of time we leave the most powerful weapon last.. that is prayers..

the devil knows more den us how potent prayers are, and how directly prayer is related to his destruction.
we are most vulnerable to devil's attacks when we dun pray.. so when u kena spiritual attacks.. dun come crying first.. ask urself.. got pray nots? =p

4 steps tat satan does..
1.) prayerless
he will try all ways and means to stop u from praying.. and when u dun pray.. u r actually partnering wif satan to anger God =(

2.) burden bearer
satan will give u lots of burden.. but.. juz pray and give God the burden =]]

3.) weariness
haf u ever noticed den when u r about to pray.. sometimes u get tired?
it is the work of the devil.. u r overwhelmed by problems.. worry.. sorrow..
when u experienced tat, all the most u shd pray i tell u =p

4.) weakness
7 days without prayers makes one weak..
the weaker one is, the more he will focus on himself.
satan hates believers who pray and trust Him.

Personal : i haf seen mani christians reciting this.. "i hate satan! stupid satan! gimme spiritual attacks!" now.. i will say.. u scold him for wat? lols. got power ar ahhahahaha =p
u shd instead pray and trust Him and satan will be angry!

3 things need for effective prayer

1.) get serious
communication wif God is impt. it is the building blocks of r/s wif God.
-prayers do not change God but change the person who prays.

2.) pray always without ceasing..
pray at all times.. involve God in everything..
see lives thru God's filter
to haf an open connection wif God.. seek directions from God! =]]

3.) pray all kinds of prayers.
ask, pray, thank, praise, interceding.
the size of ur God determine the size of ur prayer request. the size of ur prayer request determines the size of ur answers.
John 14:13
-ask anything in My name that brings glory to my Father and i will do it.
prayers is like a dynamite.! it has lots of potential but is absolutely useless when left untouched =]]

-Loneliness-
you can feel lonely in crowds..
even famous celebrities can be lonely.. abeit a big crowd of fans..
do not marry juz becuz of loneliness.. u will onli divorce for the same reason =]]

rapid change and modern technology that discourage intimacy and stimulate loneliness.. ppl throw themselves blindly into sharing wif strangers..
*we sometimes bring loneliness to ourselves
*sometimes, we haf no choice but to be lonely..
4 causes of loneliness.

1.) transitions
for example, psle, o levels, ns, marriage..
transitions causes loneliness

2.) separation
when u r away, u will get lonely.. so dun miss cg =]]

3.) opposition or resistance
temptations~ draw urself in to the shell

4.) rejections
-kena betrayed.. others chosen but not u.
how to deal wif loneliness..

1.) make the best out of the situation
wat u can do, do it.

2.) focus on the positives.
dun exagerrate loneliness..
Proverbs 23:7
-if u think u r pitiful, U ARE!
if u tink u r great, u r.. =]]
tink.. the opposite of worry =]]

3.) recognise God's presence..
u r nv lonely! God is always wif u.. juz whether u wan tok to Him or not..
some of us.. when lonely tok to ourselves =.=rather tok to God
John 14:18
-Jesus will nv forsake us!!

4.) caught up in serving and not being served..
focus outwards,not inwards..
dun keep tinking tat u r lonely and pitiful..
juz the time to noe God more and serve others.. =]]

i did my quite time and i came across this verse..

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13. Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord's work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. Show them great respect and whole-hearted love because of their work. And live peachfully with each other.

take a moment and think.. what the leaders of our church, pastor daniel, brother rixiang, liang zhi and our core group leaders did for us.. they have worked hard among us, sacrificed huge amounts of time and energy to give us guidance and made sure we grow.. are we taking their efforts in vain..? yes, we should say thank you and show appreciation, but is words enough..?
1 john3:18, Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. show by your actions that you grew!!! 1thessalonians 3:8, It gives us new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. this is the cry of the leaders.. let us appreciate them by not saying thank you, but by showing that we grew in the Lord.. jia you..

ppl.. for those hu cannot come to church for watever reasons.. do u haf the desire? pray edae? sermon notes on blog are not as effective as the service itself.. so.. u get wat i mean =x

MISSIONS

-missions is God's heartbeat.. can u catch it?
if u r a christian, u ought to be a missionary!!
2 Cor 5:18-21
-we are all ambassadors for Christ..
-every person on earth is either a missionary or a mission field.
missionary = christian
mission field = non-christian
r u either one.. or r u realli someone in between? =]]

1.) mission is a command.. not a suggestion
Matthew 28

2.) Mission is our obligation.
-we are CALLED by GOD to witness !!

3.) missions are God's heartbeat..
God's heart is for the lost, we got the cure for eternal damnation!! are u gonna juz keep it to urself!? u SELFISH IF U DO! lols.. haha.. i pray tat zealot can share Christ to ppl.. show them the cure for eternal damnation.. and be the light for JESUS =]]
Romans 10:14-15

4.) missions is action
now we haf 10% of the world population hu believes in God.. in the past onli like.. lesss den 1 %?
see?! we can reach out to the world!! in ur lifetime.. a minimum of 10 ppl u lead to Christ will mean the whole world is believing in God!! WOOLALA =]]

steps to feeling God's heartbeat.

1.) capture God's passion
-He wants ALL to be saved.. share wif the person beside u..

2.) tap into God's power
-the foundation of mission trips is the power of the Holy spirit..
pray pray pray like mad! be sensitive to the Holy spirit!!

3.) commit to God's plan
Jesus is the Person of missions
Spirit is the Power of missions
Witnessing is the Plan of missions
We are the People of missions

4.) follow God's way/pattern
we need to reaach ppl.. EVERYWHERE! =]]

the sermon notes for this day!! =]] SNL

Don't let the devil hijack ur life.. dun worry too much
-addiction
-are u addicted to worry?
becuz.. the onli way for the devil to affect us is to put negative thoughts in us!! he cant touch us directly becuz we haf Jesus in us =]]
Jesus died to give u peace, yet u still worry!! u r making Him die in vain!! =[[
you can never worry and live in peace.
worry = tormenting urself wif disturbing thoughts
the devil occupy ur mind so u cant change anything. our mind cant multi-task. when we keep thinking, we are not going to change anything!! =]]
Matthew 6:25-27
-worrying is not gonna change a thing..
even Jesus will feed stray birds, wat more God will provide for us..
God delights in giving His children good things..
But u will not be able to receive if u keep or worrying!! =]]
God's grace is onli for today.. everyday is a refreshing touch from God..
3 things u do to overcome worry..

1.) u gotta speak the word
1 peter 5:7
-cast all ur worries to God for He cares for you!! =]]

2.) throw away worries to God!
throw it all!! dun take it back =]
when u worry, u r like a hamster running in the round round thing.. always working hard. but nv getting anywhere =]]
worrying does not rob tomorrow of its sorrow, it robs today of its strength..
christians should not live in the city of worries, but be a passer-by..

3.) rest in God.
-there can never be true peace without opposition.
2 Cor 10:4-5
worry is against the knowledge of God..
we gotta demolish everything against the knowledge of God..

1.) haf a system of priorities..
Matthew 6:33

2.) you need a strategic program..
Matthew 6:34
dun worry abt tomorrow stress.
dun worry abt yesterday's success.
dun worry abt yesterday's mess. =]]
